Coach - Shannon Rusca

Shannon played all his juniors with the SDFC and at 17 years old he played in the clubs first 'A'Grade (now Premier League) Premiership. The following year he was drafted to the Brisbane Lions. He was drafted at Number One in the 1998 Rookie draft. He played two games for the Lions in the 2000 season. He became good mates with Lions premiership players Darryl White, Chris Johnson, Clark Keating and Des Headland. In 2001 the Lions traded Shannon to the Western Bulldogs. In 2003 he was delisted by the Bulldogs.

Shannon then moved to South Australia where he played for West Adelaide in the SANFL under coach, ex Adelaide Crows and Hawthorn player, Shaun Rehn. Shannon played over 30 games with West Adelaide then returned to Darwin. He played for the SDFC before playing for Nightcliff for a few games in one season then returned to the Crocs. In the 2006/07 season he played under Coach (ex Western Bulldogs and Brisbane Bears/Lions champion) Michael (Majic)McLean. That season Shannon Captained the side in which the club won its second League grade premiership. Shannon took all the NTFL best player honours that season winning the Nichols Medal, NT News Player of the Year and Coca Cola/ABC Player of the Year.

Michael took on the NT Thunder coaching role and Shannon player/coached the SDFC League side in the 2008/09 season. In the 2009/10 season Shannon left the role to concentrate on playing full time with the NT Thunder and Michael McLean moved from the NT Thunder role back to the Crocs. Shannon played in the two premierships that the NT Thunder won in NEAFL in the 2012 season and continued to play for the Crocs. He was also an assistant coach to Michael McLean.

Shannon took over from Michael the role of Coach of the SDFC Premier League in the 2012/13 season and his dedication and experience will benefit the club again this season.
